Regional Farm Mom of the Year winners announced

Karen Kasper

A regional Farm Mom of the Year winner calls it the biggest honor she’s ever received.

Karen Kasper of Owatonna in southcentral Minnesota tells Brownfield having her daughter submit a nomination gives the award special meaning.

“It is probably the biggest honor that I’ve ever had (that my daughter) would take the time to write the nomination and send it in, because she is very busy too.”

Monsanto has named five regional winners for its 2016 Farm Mom of the Year contest.

Katie Heger of Underwood, North Dakota– Nikki Weathers of Yuma, Colorado—Ann Stamp of Cranston, Rhode Island—and Mary Courtney of Bagdad, Kentucky– join Kasper in competing for National Farm Mom of the Year.

Kasper says a great farm mom is involved in every aspect of the operation.

“Who knows all the business pieces of the farm (and) can contribute wherever she’s needed.  And be there to support all the other family members who are involved in the farming also.”

Community involvement is another area Kasper stresses as important.

Information about each regional winner can be found at Americas farmers dot com, where online votes are being tallied until May fourth to decide who becomes the 2016 National Farm Mom of the Year.
