A ranch family from southwest Nebraska has received the 2019 Nebraska Leopold Conservation Award.

Russ and Angela Sundstrom own and operate the Broken Box Ranch near Moorefield. Russ Sundstrom says one of the techniques he uses is mob grazing, a form of rotational grazing in which high numbers of cattle are grazed in small areas for a short period of time.

The Sundstroms, along with their daughter Cheyenne, were recognized Thursday during a ceremony at the State Capitol in Lincoln, hosted by Governor Pete Ricketts.
