Arkansas crops: 81% corn and 56% soybeans planted

Planting progress in Arkansas continues to run ahead of the average pace.

Statewide, corn is 81 percent planted, with 59 percent of the crop emerged.  Rice is 83 percent planted, and 54 percent emerged.  Soybeans are 56 percent planted, with 37 percent emerged. Cotton is 14 percent planted, and 1 percent emerge. Peanuts are 12 percent planted. The planting pace and emergence of all crops are running well ahead of last year and the 5-year average.

Winter wheat is 65 percent headed, with 65 percent rated good to excellent.

The first cutting of hay is 7 percent complete. Hay conditions are 53 percent good to excellent, pasture conditions are 53 percent good to excellent, and vegetables are 39 percent good to excellent.

Topsoil moisture is 90%, and subsoil moisture is 88%, adequate to surplus.
