USDA: 25% of U.S. farms can’t access the internet
A significant number of U.S. farms still do not have internet access.
The USDA says 25% of operations lack internet access, about a half a million farms, compared to 27% in 2017, and most of those that do have access, reach the internet through satellite, DSL, mobile, or cable. 73% are connected through desktop or laptop, but 49% use those desktops or laptops for business, while 52% use smart phones or tablets. 24% buy ag inputs off the internet and 19% market through the web.
The number of farms in the U.S. declined slightly from 2017 to 2018.
