Bayer and BlockApps launch new blockchain network

Bayer and blockchain platform provider BlockApps have launched a new supply chain information network which they say will “transform the way agricultural products are managed”.

Bayer and BlockApps say the TraceHarvest Network is the first blockchain solution of its kind to track and trace the full lifecycle of ag products starting at the seed source.

According to a joint news release, Bayer has tested the network on soybeans, corn and other crops over several growing seasons. They report that all participants in the supply chain, including processors, were able to track the source.

The companies say the platform will help exporters show proof of compliance with international regulations and allow retail buyers to see what their suppliers are doing with food safety and sustainability.
