Huge improvement in Missouri soil moisture levels

Wetter than normal February weather helped Missouri’s soil moisture levels.

The USDA says more than 90% of the state’s topsoil and nearly 80% of subsoil have adequate to surplus soil moisture, with statewide precipitation nearly seven tenths of an inch more than average.

11% of the state is at least abnormally dry, compared to nearly 90% just three months ago.

71% of Missouri’s winter wheat crop is in good to excellent shape, 3% above last month.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume in April.
