Livestock groups give for Katrina
Select Sires and its Board of Directors have announced that as a federation, they have donated over $66,000 towards Hurricane Katrina disaster relief. $50,000 will be used to directly assist dairy and beef producers in the effected area. The remaining money will go towards the Red Cross and the Salvation Army efforts.
"It’s absolutely devastating what farm families are enduring in Louisiana and Mississippi," says David Thorbahn, general manager, Select Sires Inc. "Select Sires, its member cooperatives and staff hope to help start the repair and rebuilding process from this tremendous disaster."
Based in Plain City, Ohio, Select Sires Inc., is North America’s largest A.I. organization and is comprised of 10 farmer-owned and -controlled cooperatives.
