How to safely cook ham for Easter or anytime

Ham is a popular Easter dinner main course but knowing what kind you’re buying dictates how long to cook it for food safety. There are two kinds of smoked ham – one is ready to eat, the other MUST be cooked before eating.  It will say so on the package, so always read the package. Fresh ham is completely uncooked and therefore must be cooked a LOT longer for food safety.
