Agri-tourism builds revenue, but takes work

Opening a farm to the public may be a way to bring in revenue, but Steve Peterson with the Wisconsin Agricultural Tourism Association says farmers need to look before they leap.  There are many ways to make money from agri-tourism, says Peterson.  And although there is an abundance of opportunities for revenue building through agri-tourism, Peterson tells Brownfield that farmers need to do homework ahead of time.

The amount of revenue varies with the type of operation, but Peterson says some farms that have barns converted to event spaces are getting $10,000 a weekend for the privilege of using that space.
