Fungicide resistance is a growing concern

Fungicide resistance is getting more attention.  University of Kentucky plant pathologist Carl Bradley says there have been recent documented instances of fungicide resistant pathogens.  The beginnings of fungicide resistance are very similar to the threshold of herbicide resistance.  Bradley says it starts with most pathogens being killed by a fungicide with just a few so-called escapes.  In the case of herbicide resistance, growers have had to by-pass compounds that were once useful in controlling the worst weed problems because those products are no longer effective.  The same principles that apply to herbicide resistance in weeds and insecticide resistance in insects apply to fungicide resistance.
