Increased competition adds pressure to livestock prices

US beef and pork have always had competition at the grocery store from chicken and other proteins.  Now, they’re facing competition from meatless meat products and that could add pressure to prices.  As the beef and pork sectors continue to supply a massive amount of product, a livestock market analyst says the last thing they need is additional competition in the meat case.

Scott Brown with the University of Missouri says competition is coming from all different areas and producers can’t lose sight of what the consumers want.
