CME milk futures higher, cash dairy mixed Thursday

Milk futures were steady to higher and the cash dairy markets were mixed Thursday on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. 

April Class III milk was up $0.06 at $15.48.  May was up $0.27 at $15.91.  June was up $0.19 at $16.51.  July was up $0.13 at $17.21.  

August through February contracts ranged from unchanged in September, October, November, January, and February to five cents higher in August.  Thursday’s Class III trade volume was lower with 1,874 contracts. 

Dry whey was up $0.01 at $0.39.  One sale was recorded at $0.3850. 

Forty-pound cheese blocks were unchanged at $1.44.  Thirteen sales were recorded, ranging from $1.4350 to $1.44. 

Cheese barrels were unchanged at $1.45.  Five sales were recorded, ranging from $1.4450 to $1.45. 

Butter was down $0.01 at $2.93.  Five sales were recorded, ranging from $2.91 to $2.94. 

Nonfat dry milk was up $0.0050 at $1.1450.   Two sales were recorded at $1.1425 and $1.1450.
