2015 Illinois international pork tour

Programs ICONThe Illinois Pork Tour started at the Cedar Ridge Farm Monday in Red Bud with more than 30 international buyers from China, Mexico, Peru, Colombia and three other countries.  The tour will also make stops at Farmweld, the National Soybean Research Lab, Prairie State Semen, CME Group and Amlan International Innovation Center. The group will then head to the World Pork Expo in Des Moines on Thursday.

Organizers say the tour that’s been held the past 19 years has generated more than 10-Million dollars in export sales for the Illinois pork industry.

The three other countries represented on this week’s tour are Puerto Rico, Thailand and Vietnam. Illinois ranks fourth among U.S. states in pork production.
