23% of corn, 19% of soybeans harvested in Illinois

Above average temperatures and minimal rainfall allowed for good harvest progress across Illinois last week.

The USDA reports as of October 1st 23% of corn is harvested, compared to 10% the week prior and the five-year average of 25%. The crop is rated 66% good to excellent, up four percentage points on the week.

Soybean harvest is 19% complete, a jump from 6% the week before and in line with average. 66% of the crop is considered good to excellent, up 6 points on the week.

Winter wheat planting continues ahead of average pace at 14% complete with 1% emerged.
