56% of U.S. corn, 58% of soybeans good to excellent

The USDA’s reporting another mixed week of changes for crop condition ratings. Weather was mixed last week, ranging from hot and dry in parts of the region to excessively wet in other areas, continuing to reflect the wide range experienced during the U.S. growing season.

As of Sunday, 56% of U.S. corn is in good to excellent shape, down 1% on the week, and 5% of the crop is harvested, with 96% at the dough making stage, 76% dented, and 25% mature.

58% of soybeans are good to excellent, unchanged, and 26% are dropping leaves.

86% of spring wheat is harvested, just ahead of the five-year average.

2% of winter wheat is planted, compared to 5% on average.

34% of cotton is rated good to excellent, dropping 5%, with harvest at 7%, while 96% of the crop is setting bolls and 40% of bolls are opening.

73% of rice is reported as good to excellent, 2% higher, and 50% is harvested, faster than most recent years.

28% of sorghum is in good to excellent shape, holding steady, while 94% has headed, 68% is coloring, 41% is mature, and 20% has been harvested.

53% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in poor to very poor condition, a week-to-week increase of 1%.
