ACE CEO leery of Trump’s RFS plan to mitigate SRE damage
American Coalition for Ethanol CEO Brian Jennings is leery of President Trump’s plan to mitigate the impact of RFS waivers.
“What we know of it is that the package would fall far short of what is needed to correct the abuse of the small refinery exemptions by EPA.”
He tells Brownfield ACE simply wants the EPA to follow the law.
“That means if they issue a hardship exemption from complying with the Renewable Fuel Standard, the biodiesel or ethanol that small refinery was supposed to blend should be reallocated to the rest of the refiners. We want reallocation, plain and simple.”
U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa says the rumored ethanol changes would be yet another disaster for ethanol and corn growers, and tweeted “Big oil strikes again.”

This is not something we wanted to do but with your EPA’s War On Ethanol, now with 85 Small Refinery Waivers, we felt forced to borrow to pay bills

Every time you talk about “Saving Small Refiners” you make me sick!
I worked in the Refining Industry for years and I am not aware of any Small Refiners that “need saving”. It’s all a ruse. The fact that the whole Small Refinery Exemption Process at the EPA is “Secret,” and never sees the light of day is proof that the Small Refiners really don’t need saving.
Meanwhile I read that 20 Ethanol Plants have now shutdown, Real Plants with Real People loosing Real Jobs so that Multi-Billion Dollar Refiners don’t have to bother with any Reallocated Blending Obligations that you have waivered from the “Small Refiners”.
Mr. President, if you believe the “Refining Industry” is hurting, you’ve been had!
Mr. President you need to Reallocate the 4.5 BILLION GALLONS of RFS Biofuel Blending Obligations you have cheated Farmers and the Ethanol Industry out of over the last three years. If you can’t force the Oil Industry to do their job under the Renewable Fuels Standard, you may get Booed the next time you show up in the Midwest.
People are really tired of lies and excuses for You and Your EPA destroying the Renewable Fuel Standard.
