Ag Transportation Handbook helps clarify transportation guidelines

The president of Minnesota Farm Bureau says the Agricultural Transportation Handbook helps clarify ag transportation guidelines.

Kevin Paap tells Brownfield the book is a collaborative effort between Farm Bureau, the State Patrol and the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council.

“With a lot of laws and regulations that seem to be changing, we always update the book.  We wanted an easy way a farmer or lay-person could understand the rules, regulations and requirements.”

He says the handbook explains different scenarios.

“What it means if you’re hauling your own grain in your own semi versus (being) hired to do it.  Are you inter-state; going from state to state?  Or intra-state?  This book has the ability to talk about all the specifics.”

Information on transporting hazardous materials and license requirements are also covered.

Paap says copies of the Ag Transportation Handbook are available at county Farm Bureau offices across the state.
