Biden announces historic investments in rural America

President Biden suggests unprecedented federal investments will reinvigorate rural America.

The President began his Investing in Rural America Event Series on a family farm near Northfield in southeastern Minnesota.  Biden is announcing more than $5 billion in new investments that support rural infrastructure, conservation, and renewable energy.

“So that generations of rural Americans can begin to thrive again.”

President Biden says the investments will help create more competition and better markets for farmers and ranchers.

“We’re strengthening local food systems so rural communities have better access to affordable locally grown food, so the farmers who provide that food actually benefit from it.”

He says these are the must substantial investments in rural infrastructure since the Eisenhower administration.

“Roads, bridges, inland waterways, ports, regional airports, clean water, high-speed internet.”

Biden says his administration is also making the largest investment in rural electrification since the 1940’s.
