Brief window for southwest Minnesota farmer

A southwest Minnesota farmer says a recent window for fieldwork has temporarily closed.

Chris Hill of Brewster tells Brownfield activity picked up over the weekend and continued until rain pushed him and many others back to the sidelines.

“A lot of people did get the planters out and got a good running start. Overnight we had some rain, so we’re just sitting it out right now.”

Hill took advantage of dryer weather by catching up on fertilizer applications.

“I had a nice window to get some of that fieldwork done, so this next time out we’re really going to get after planting.”

Outside of a few wet spots, he says soils were in good shape and a lot of dust was made earlier this week.
