Cattle placements could be up sharply

Ahead of Friday’s USDA cattle on feed report, analysts, on average, expect a big jump in placements, along with a smaller increase in marketings and decline in the on feed total.

Via Dow Jones Newswires, the average estimate for placements during October is 110% of a year ago due at least in part to October 2012’s number being very low. Marketings are pegged at 101.5% of a year ago, with no calendar day adjustment. The total number of cattle on feed on November 1 is seen at 94.2% of a year ago.

The report is out Friday, November 22 at 3 PM Eastern/2 PM Central.
