China biggest destination for U.S. corn, sorghum, soybeans

The USDA says that as of the week ending August 13th, 2019/20 corn and soybean export inspections continue to trail their respective 2018/19 paces. The 2020/21 marketing year started June 1st for wheat, while 2019/20 runs through the end of August for beans, corn, and sorghum.

Wheat came out at 461,699 tons, down 14,999 from the week ending August 6th and 102,933 lower than the week ending August 15th, 2019. The primary destinations were Japan and Sri Lanka. At this point in the 2020/21 marketing year, wheat inspections are 5,625,441 tons, compared to 5,521,334 in 2019/20.

Corn was reported at 1,036,985 tons, 251,898 below the previous week, but 526,651 above a year ago. The top destinations were China and Mexico. Nearing the end of the 2019/20 marketing year, corn inspections are 40,312,783 tons, compared to 46,158,508 late in 2018/19.

Soybeans were pegged at 785,075 tons, 493 less than the week before and 373,680 under this time last year. The main destinations were China and the Netherlands. So far, this marketing year, soybean inspections are 40,950,167 tons, compared to 43,485,255 a year ago.

Sorghum totaled 83,934 tons, a decrease of 25,078 on the week, but an increase of 27,132 on the year. China and the Netherlands were also the leading destinations for sorghum. 2019/20 sorghum inspections are 4,723,598 tons, compared to 1,999,455 in 2018/19.
