Consumer outreach at the Indiana State Fair

As part of the Indiana State Fair’s opening day on Friday DuPont cut the ribbon on the DuPont Food Pavilion.  DuPont Executive Vice President Jim Borel says their goal is to engage consumers of all ages in conversations about agriculture – and taking part in the Indiana State Fair is a good way to do just that.  “Too often we take food for granted because it is abundant and it is fairly inexpensive in the US,” he says.  “Both for health and for food security we need to have people understand where their food comes from and how to make good choices. “  Borel says they are excited to have a hand in that process.

Also at Friday’s ribbon cutting was David Lowe, Jay County farmer and Indiana Soybean Alliance Vice-President.  He says the revamping of the building is a unique way to highlight agriculture.  “It highlights food,” he says.  “In highlighting food – it highlights Indiana agriculture.”  One of the ways the pavilion is doing that is by promoting the Plenish High Oleic Soybean Oil.  “Indiana was one of the first states that were featured in raising the first seeds that are going into production,” Lowe says.

Throughout the fair’s 17 day run – the DuPont Food Pavilion will feature several Indiana Grown products along with several food demonstrations featuring DuPont’s Plenish High Oleic Soy Oil.
