Corn harvest ahead of norm in Iowa

Corn harvest is advancing faster than normal in Iowa.

USDA’s latest weekly crop report says at 16 percent harvested, farmers in the state are four days ahead of both last year and the five-year average.

Soybeans are 24 percent harvested, one day faster than a year ago and on par with the usual pace.

Conditions remain quite dry across Iowa with 73 percent of topsoil and almost 80 percent of subsoil moisture supplies rated short to very short.
