Crop condition ratings drop in Ohio

98 percent of the Ohio corn crop has emerged, one point behind the 5-year average. 77 percent of the corn crop is in fair-to-good condition, a slight decline from a week ago.

Soybean planting is 95 percent complete, still two points behind the average pace, 88 percent of soybeans have emerged and 84 percent of the crop is in fair-to good condition, a drop of two points from last week’s 86 percent fair-to-good rating.

63 percent of the Ohio wheat crop is turning color, two percent of the crop is mature. As of Sunday, June 22, the Ohio field office of the National Ag Statistics Service (NASS) has 81 percent of the wheat in fair-to-good condition.

First cutting of alfalfa hay is 79 percent complete.

Pasture conditions held steady at 81 percent in fair-to-good condition.
