Crops looking good in western Iowa

A west-central Iowa farmer says it’s been drier than normal in his area.

But, Jeff Frank tells Brownfield he still expects good yields. “The beans, their month is always August. And the corn – with the last rains we’ve gotten – things look really well out here. We don’t have any burnt up spots and don’t have any flooded out areas.”

He says he’s been spending a lot of time scouting fields for disease pressure. “I actually just saw some information on gall midge in west-central Iowa, some of it in the beanfields. So, there’s some concerns with that.”

Frank raises corn and soybeans near Auburn in Sac County.
