Crunch time for an energy bill
For anyone hoping the United States Senate will pass an energy bill before they recess, the clock is ticking.
“We are down to crunch time,” said Tom Buis, CEO of Growth Energy. “We have less than a month, they will recess around the first week of August, and then after they come back in September it’s mostly appropriations work and then you’re in to the election so the days are numbered.”
Buis tells Brownfield they hope true leaders will step forward and workout a bi-partisan agreement to move energy legislation forward. And to help, Buis is encouraging farmers and ranchers to contact their elected officials.
“It’s worth stopping whatever they’re doing today to make that phone call and say, let’s get an energy bill passed,” Buis said.
