Farmer says conditions are right for planting

Northeastern South Dakota farmer Bob Metz says conditions are just right as the planting season approaches in his area.

“I think we will be able to put the crop in the ground very nicely,” he says. “We had a great fall which allowed us to do a lot of extra work to get the land prepared and get some fertilizer on the ground so we’re sitting in a great place when it comes to planting.”

Metz tells Brownfield he is seeing higher input costs.

“We have seen expenses go through the roof when it comes to fertilizer, some of our chemicals, and fuel is back up,” he says.

He is hoping for some timely rains and a good start to the season.
