Farmer says vomitoxin continues to be a challenge

Northwest Ohio Farmer Ryan Mohr says vomitoxin continues to be an issue after finding it in some harvested corn last fall.

“That’s still a problem we’re dealing with trying to get rid of our grain,” he says.

During harvest, Mohr said they could haul two trucks from the same field and one truck would have vomitoxin levels of eight parts per million and the other truck had none.

He says he’s hopeful it won’t be an issue during the upcoming growing season.

“I think that we’ll work through it, but we don’t need it for the next season. That’s just something you worry about,” he says.

Mohr grows corn and soybeans in Van Wert County.
