FarmFest addressing changing dynamics of food production

Kent Thiesse

The changing dynamics of food production will be addressed during the first day of FarmFest in southwest Minnesota.

A forum this afternoon (Tuesday) features Steve Peterson, a former director of sourcing sustainability for General Mills, and Michael Doane, director of working lands for the Nature Conservancy.

Organizer Kent Thiesse tells Brownfield the program is titled The Food and Agriculture Industry…transitioning into the future.

“Everything from GMO’s to how we raise animals, environmental issues.  (also) A lot of this social media (and) consumer trends is driving food choices in America, and ultimately affecting our crop and livestock production.”

FarmFest runs through Thursday at the Gilfillan Estate near Redwood Falls.
