Focusing on fungicides in 2019

A Bayer Crop Science representative focusing on fungicide says they are battling disease resistance and new diseases in Midwest corn going into 2019.

“Controlling diseases is harder and choosing the right products is more important than ever.”

Ray Lello, Product Manager for Corn and Soy Fungicides, for Bayer Crop Science says the landscape for growers is changing.

“It’s very rapidly changing and I think there are a couple of things I would call out in particular. This first one is we are seeing disease resistance to some of our older chemistries and so that goes back to balancing those chemistries properly.”

Lello says they are also working to combat new diseases like tar spot in 2019.

“We do have a label for Delaro in control of tar spot in its core geographies. We were able to build a solution, identify proper hybrids and the right crop protection products for a solution for our growers.”

Lello tells Brownfield Bayer has dozens of new potential products to launch in 2019.

Brownfield’s Cyndi Young interviewed Lello at the 2018 NAFB Convention:
