Good week for soybean export inspections

The USDA reports soybean export inspections for the week ending September 29th were more than what’s needed to remain ahead of the projected pace for the 2017/18 marketing year.

Wheat came out at 691,971 tons, up 190,165 from the week ending September 28th and 29,295 higher than the week ending September 29th, 2016. For the 2017/18 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 9,921,386 tons, compared to 10,139,604 in 2016/17.

Corn was reported at 782,346 tons, 2,375 more than the previous week, but 702,930 less than this time last year. About a month into the marketing year, corn inspections are 2,928,252 tons, compared to 5,774,192 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 894,250 tons, down 142,354 from the week before and 215,800 lower than last year. So far this marketing year, soybean inspections are 3,970,338 tons, compared to 3,410,154 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 1,272 tons. That’s a decrease of 128,893 tons on the week and 22,980 on the year. 2017/18 sorghum inspections are 250,295 tons, compared to 372,381 in 2016/17.
