Highlighting anaerobic digester technology

The Indiana Biomass Energy Working Group is hosting a spring session to highlight anaerobic digester technology.  Chad Martin, Purdue Extension renewable energy specialist says the primary mission of the working group is to showcase biomass energy projects around the state.  The session will include presentations by Extension and industry experts and a tour of the Culver Duck anaerobic digester.  Martin says, “Culver Duck used to have to pay to dispose of offal waste, but the anaerobic digester now allows them to coming that with corn stover to create biogas.  The electricity generated by the facility is then purchased by the local power company.”

The tour of Culver Duck will highlight how they successfully navigated the permitting process to bring the plant online.

The working group session is Monday, April 23 and is open to the public.  The tour runs from 8:30 to 1:30 at Das Dutchman Essenhaus restaurant in Middlebury and the Culver Duck Digester tour runs from 1:30 to 3:00pm.

Registration of $25 per person is due April 18 and includes lunch. More information about the session, Culver Duck.  Registration information can be found HERE.
