Honoring Indiana’s leaders in ag

Indiana’s agricultural leaders were honored on Farmer’s Day at the Indiana State Fair.

Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann awarded retiring Indiana Farm Bureau president Don Villwock and JBS United president emeritus Don Orr with her AgriVision award during the Celebration of Agriculture.

Don Villwock says looking to the future of agriculture – it needs strong farmers to lead the way.  “Farmers that are not only well-trained in their profession – but I really hope their leadership skills develop and we can help them in any way possible,” he says.

Orr

Don Orr says he hopes his time in the agriculture industry has helped pave the way for the future.  He says one thing he’s realized is it takes a team to be successful. “To really raise these things that we’ve been striving for in terms of research and innovation,” he says.  “To improve the sustainability and efficiency of agriculture.”

The 2015 Indiana State Fair continues to celebrate the Year of the Farmer.  The fair concludes on August 23.
