Hoosier Farmers Market Association awarded $500,000
The Hoosier Farmers Market Association has been awarded nearly $500,000. Christina McDougall, executive director of the Hoosier Farmers Market Association says the funds will be used will improve training and outreach to increase access to local products.
The funding from the USDA Farmers Market Promotion Program will allow the association to support farmer markets, community supported agricultural program, and direct-marketing events throughout the state.
Indiana has 350 direct farmer-to-consumer entities and about half are farmers markets.
The USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service awarded 52 Farmers Market Promotion Program grants totaling more than $13 million.
