Using the fundraising framework provided by the Nebraska FFA Foundation’s “I Believe in the Future of Ag” campaign, the Freeman (NE) FFA Chapter raised enough money to construct its very own Growing Dome greenhouse in 2013.

Freeman FFA advisor Tony Jensen credits the “I Believe” program for helping his chapter focus its fundraising efforts.

“We’ve had great support from our community in the past, but I guess we haven’t necessarily had a program where we actively sought participation from community donors,” Jensens says.

“We’d have a pancake feed or some other local fundraisers–and fruit sales–like a lot of FFA chapters do,” he continues, “but the I Believe campaign really allowed us to narrow our focus and talk to community members and businesses to see if they’d be willing to donate to some of the special projects that our chapter had going.”

We visited with Jensen about the Growing Dome project and what it means for his students.
