IFB members make donations to food banks

During Indiana Farm Bureau’s annual convention last weekend in Fort Wayne, more than $11,000 in donations were made to hunger relief organizations.

IFB’s Young Farmer Committee raised over $6,700 from the silent auction.  IFB members also donated nearly $4,900 to Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana.

Chris Fenner, IFB’s director of field services and chairman of the convention committee said, “As farmers and producers of food, we are vested in feeding hungry people in Indiana.”  And added, “Alleviating hunger is an issue that’s important to us as an organization.”

Gleaners Food Bank distributes food and grocery items to more than 350 relief agencies who serve Indiana’s hungry and Community Harvest serves food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, rehabilitation centers, and youth and senior citizen programs in Northeast Indiana.
