Illinois beef research tours

Illinois cattle producers can get grazing management research updates from University of Illinois professionals and others at the first of several off-campus field days.  U of I Extension Beef Specialist Travis Meteer says the first tour, this Tuesday, is in Christian County near Pana, Illinois.

Meteer says, “Dudley Smith Farm is really known for that systems-type research involving soybean production, corn production, those row crop production methods along with the cattle operation. So, there’s a unique dynamic there at the Dudley Smith farm that all of our research will trace back to.”

The third beef tour will be at the Dixon Springs Ag Center, July 31, and the third at the Orr Research Center field day on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the John Wood Community College Ag Center just outside of Perry.

Another research update for southern Illinois cattle producers is the Southern Illinois Beef Day July 18th at the Applied Science Center at Rend Lake College.
