Programs ICON

Warmer than normal temperatures and dry conditions for much of last week in Indiana helped dry out fields, allowing farmers to make harvest progress and plant cover crops. The recent rainfall has helped pasture conditions and pastures that are still saturated are expected to be in good condition through fall. Development rates and conditions vary from district to district.

As of Sunday, 95% of corn has dented and 56% has reached maturity, and 7% is harvested, matching the five year average. 73% of corn is in good to excellent shape.

45% of soybeans are dropping leaves, behind the typical pace, and 2% of the crop is harvested. 75% of soybeans are rated good to excellent.

The third cutting of alfalfa is 95% complete, with the fourth cutting at 45% and the silage harvest at 72%.
