Japan promises corn buy in trade deal

President Trump says the trade agreement in principle with Japan will be tremendous for farmers and include corn purchases.

“We have excess corn in various parts of our country  with our farmers because China did not do what they said they were going to do and Prime Minister Abe on behalf of Japan, they’re going to be buying all of that corn and it’s going to be a very big transaction.”

Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says the agreement will remove existing barriers for the U.S and level the playing field with other countries.

The deal is being welcomed by several ag groups.

An official agreement could be signed as soon as mid-September.
