Matejka from Martin County West Chapter is new Minnesota FFA president

The new president of Minnesota FFA hopes to have a similar impact to state officers she’s looked up to.

Emily Matejka of the Martin County West Chapter says she’s aspired to be part of the officer team for several years.

“I remember sitting in Mariucci Arena as an 8th grader looking at the state officers on stage just seeing all of their impact on Minnesota FFA and saying to myself ‘I want to do that someday.”

She tells Brownfield her goal as state president is to make sure everyone in FFA knows they are valued.

“No matter their background, no matter their experience, no matter their skillset, they have a place here in the organization. And they are FFA family, that is really what FFA has been to me and I know that it is to a lot of people.”

The state officer team was announced Friday at the conclusion of the 2021 Minnesota FFA virtual convention.
