The Michigan FFA Association is recognizing the accomplishments of student members during this week’s 90th Annual Michigan FFA State Convention.

“It’s just an incredible experience to see members watch their hard work pay off.  Members have been competing, there are state level contests happening and we get to see their faces when they win an award or when they finally get recognized for all of that hard work.”

Michigan FFA President Adrian Schunk tells Brownfield the state officer team hopes to inspire members to Cultivate Change for themselves and their communities.  “We really wanted members to realize that they can cultivate their life, they can cultivate their world that they live in if they choose to make that happen.  We really love that we chose the word cultivate because it really gives a nod to our agricultural past in the FFA and where we’re headed in the future as well”

Schunk says as a student her supervised agricultural experiences and work to create the Mason FFA Junior High Chapter were key to her future career goals.  “That’s really translated into my career here at Michigan State University where I’m now majoring in communications and I can now use those skills in communications to advocate for the agricultural industry.”

She says this year the organization has retained 100 percent of its membership which includes more than 7,700 junior high and high school students. More than 3,000 members and guests are expected during this week’s convention on Michigan State University’s campus.
