Michigan Potash secures buyer & distributor

The Michigan Potash & Salt Company has announced a major U.S.-based ag company has agreed to purchase and distribute 100 percent of its first phase of production.

While the ag company has not been named, the mine is expected to be the largest potash and food-grade salt facility in the U.S. and operational in about three years.

Michigan Potash is expected to produce 650,000 tons of ultra-high grade, white potash fertilizer annually during the first phase and has the potential to replace Russian imports which make up about six percent of U.S. supplies.

Currently, the U.S. imports about 96 percent of its potash.
