Missouri Hemp Association glad to see dicamba go

The head of the Missouri Hemp Association says he agrees with the court ruling banning three dicamba products, “We don’t like the product. It’s that simple. It drifts over on our neighbors and into our homes and down the creeks and so we’re happy to see it gone.” Bill Cook tells Brownfield growers of hemp for CBD oil and medical uses have been very concerned, “They certainly don’t want it tainted with any chemical or any uptake.”

Cook says he feels for the companies that have invested in the new dicamba products but says they should help farmers who have bought them, “They should just may pay those back or have some way to work out of that where a farmer doesn’t take the hit for that.”

Cook says the Missouri Hemp Association is NOT against soybean and cotton farmers using the dicamba products they have on hand under the EPA cancellation order but says he’s glad it won’t be coming back. He says a lot of hemp growers across the country have gone the organic route and dicamba drift has been very hard on organic growers.

EPA’s order to allow dicamba application with remaining stocks is being challenged by plaintiffs in the court ruling June 3rd which said EPA must vacate the products’ registration.
