Missouri Livestock Symplosium opens Friday

The Missouri Livestock Symposium begins Friday, December 7, in Kirksville, Missouri. The event, the 13th annual, begins Friday evening with a trade show and beef dinner. The Saturday program features concurrent sessions about cattle, forages, horses, sheep, goats, stock dogs and subjects concerning farm and home.

The past summer is playing a role in this year’s program material, said Andy Jackson, a member of the committee that plans the symposium.

“The drought has certainly had a serious impact on [livestock] situations; [and producers are] not knowing what’s going to be happening for next year,” said Jackson, speaking to Brownfield Ag News Friday. “We try to have topics that are going to be applicable, practical information that you can take to your home operation and put to use.”

Jackson says, in past years, the symposium has drawn between 1,800 and 2,000 people. It’s open Friday afternoon beginning at 4:00 p.m., and again Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Kirksville Middle School.
