Most of Illinois’ corn and soybeans are in the bin

Most of Illinois’ corn and soybeans are now in the bin.  USDA reporters say as of Sunday, 90% of the corn has been harvested and 95% of the soybeans have been harvested.

Winter wheat is 95% planted, and 77% of the crop has emerged, with 14% of that new emergence happening last week.  Fifty-three percent of the winter wheat in Illinois is in fair condition, with 29% good, 5% excellent, and 8% poor.

Soil moisture remains below normal.  Topsoil moisture was rated 8 percent very short, 19 percent short, 69 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus. The subsoil moisture was rated 13 percent very short, 31 percent short, 55 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus.

Weather allowed farmers to get 5.6 days of field work in last week.
