NAMI calls for vaccine priority to meat workers

The North American Meat Institute is calling on the Biden administration to prioritize COVID-19 vaccines for meat and poultry workers.

NAMI President Julie Anna Potts says prioritizing meat and poultry workers across all states will also help maximize coverage against the virus in rural areas with limited health services. NAMI points to states like Iowa and Kansas that have made food processing workers a priority but says that needs to be the standard in all states.

The institute sent letters to governors of every state in December highlighting the need to vaccinate essential food workers.
