National Officer at MO FFA State Convention

National FFA Eastern Region Vice President, Alex Henry of Elwell, Michigan was a guest at the Missouri FFA State Convention in Columbia where she spoke to the 11,000 members in attendance and facilitated leadership workshops. Henry says FFA members today can expect to see changes in the next year on the national and global levels.

“We are really working hard at National FFA to broaden the world’s view of agriculture,” said Henry. “We are doing that by incorporating new career development events that range from environment to food production all the way to emerging technologies such as bio-fuels. So, we are really trying to adapt with the times and prepare students for the over 300 careers in agriculture.”

Henry says she has gained a greater insight into U.S. agriculture over the past year and loves meeting with fellow students who share her passions for agriculture, leadership and service.

“We were in Pasadena for the Rose Parade on the FFA Rose Parade Float. We have been to Japan for two weeks,” said Henry. “We have been to Arkansas, Tennessee. I was in New Mexico for FFA week. Pretty much all over and it’s just going to keep getting better. After this I head to Alaska and then after that Oklahoma.”

By the time her term as a national officer is over, Henry will have logged over 100,000 miles in her travels across the country working with the more than 500,000 FFA members of the National FFA.
