Most Nebraska crops in good shape

Stormy weather last week in parts of Nebraska resulted in the loss of crops, livestock, irrigation equipment and on-farm grain storage for some farmers. But, overall, the state’s crops and pastures continued to show improvement.

As of Sunday, corn rated 68 percent good to excellent with soybeans at 69 percent good to excellent. Alfalfa hay conditions rated 54 percent good to excellent with the first cutting 87 percent complete and the second cutting 12 percent complete.

Pasture and range conditions rated 45 percent good to excellent and 35 percent fair.

Winter wheat conditions rated 46 percent good to excellent and 32 percent fair. Wheat coloring was 62 percent compared to the 52 average. Four percent of the crop was mature.
