Nebraska farmer pleased with yields
Rain slowed harvest activity in Nebraska on Tuesday. David Merrell, who farms near St. Edward in east-central Nebraska, says he’s done with soybeans and about half-finished with his corn. And he says yields have been “extraordinarily good”.
“Bean did really well—I had anywhere from 65 to 68 bushels per acre yield on beans,” says Merrell. “That’s really good for me.”
Merrell says he heard reports of 250-plus corn yields in his area. “Personally I’m only seeing like 220 to 230—but, again, that’s really good for me,” he says. “So I’m not complaining about how yields are doing.”
Most of Merrell’s land is irrigated.
