Nebraska wheat crop in good shape

Soil moisture levels in Nebraska are above a year ago heading into March.

The USDA says 92% of topsoil and 90% of subsoil have adequate to surplus soil moisture, helping the winter wheat crop improve to 60% good to excellent, compared to 43% good to excellent this time last year.

Nebraska farmers planted record low winter wheat acreage last year in response to large supplies and poor export demand.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress reports resume April 1st.
